Velvet Pumpkins

Darn it!

I just peeked at The Pioneer Woman's Website and I didn't win her current Home and Garden Contest.  Not that I thought I really had a chance (have you seen how many people enter her contests?!).  But, I was really hoping on this one.

She was giving away these velvet pumpkins by Love Feast Table

Aren't these pretty?  Just the right mix of festive, fancy, unique and cute.
This Harvet Trio Set would be a perfect adornment to a Thanksgiving feast.

I love the jewel tones!

I'd love a set of these for Fall!
The fabric is reminding me of the pumpkins M and I decorated last Halloween.
Do you remember these?

They were part of my "Dollar Store Decorating" Ideas.  I bought the creepy black spider web fabric and ribbon at the Dollar Store.  I just wrapped the pumpkins with the spider web, tied the bows and viola! fancy pumpkins.

I've got the creative juices flowing now.  October is only 6 days away.  Time to start the fall decorating.  I'll let you know what I come up with.  I've got an itch to do something with some fancy fabric.

Life Lately

We are finally officially into our new house.
Well, what I should say is that we are sleeping at our new house.  Practically living there full time.
Half of our furniture is at the old house for showings and open houses.  You know, "staged", but without beds.

M has started her new preschool.
It was more of an adjustment than I thought it would be.  Poor little....she was so sad to leave her friends at her old preschool.

Ballet lessons are back in session.
Remind me next quarter that I really don't like going on Saturday mornings!  I thought it would be the easiest day to go with my full time work schedule.  But, boy I miss having that one day that I can hang out in my pajamas sipping coffee before I have to get going.

After M's first week at her new school, we celebrated with dinner at her very favorite spot:  "Alex Garden"  :)  She really does call it that most of the time.

She LOVES pasta!  Just like her Oma.
Thanks for the gift card Oma and Opa!  It's always a hit.

Check out these two cuties.  This is C with my niece's baby boy.  He is 3 months older than C!  Our little guy is in no way little.  Literally off the charts!  Everyone keeps talking football.  Poor kid.  I would never let that happen.  Maybe sumo wrestling?  That's safer isn't it?  You never hear of sumo wrestlers with concussions.

He's such a little adult.  He'll only sleep on his side.

The basement kitchen in our new house finally has paint!  I took this photo about a week ago with my phone.  Not great quality, but I thought I would throw it up.  You will be seeing some real progress photos here soon.  Hubby actually finished the floor in her yesterday.  It's looking really good.  Living in the construction is going to be seriously crazy.  Especially with a 4 year old and a 5 month old.  But, it had to be done.  It was just too hard to work, go home and do dinner, play with kiddos and do the night routine and come to the new house to work.  We decided to just jump into the middle of it and knock this puppy out.

I scrubbed floors tonight.  If the little bear doesn't have an ear infection, we are going on a date tomorrow night!  Fingers are crossed.  Then, it's back to house renovation 2012 this weekend.  Trim and paint here we come.

Welcome Fall

Jody here.  I know it has been a while.  I am still here.....a little distracted but here and LOVING Fall!

Oh Fall how I love thee.....let me count the ways:

I love your beauty....
I love your cooler temps; crisp mornings and nights.....
I love your veggies; (look at those beauties) We are truly enjoying our garden these days.....

I love your perfect hiking and biking weather.....

My only complaint this Fall is I haven't spent enough time in it!  I have been DYING to take a hike  and my mountain bike is calling...no SCREAMING my name.  Unfortunately the only hiking I have been doing these days has been from the free parking lot to the college :).  Life has gotten a bit busy.

Depressing enough these fall photos (aside for my veggies) were taken LAST year.

Me and the hubby have managed to carve in some time for a mountain bike "Date" day down Rock Canyon next weekend.  I am super stoked!  I will post pics....hopefully not of my battle wounds.  I am not the most graceful biker ;).

I am also putting together my top 10 Fall MUST DO list so stay tuned.

Happy Fall Y'all-Get out and enjoy it!

Fab Find Friday

ZUTANO BOOTIES!

My little bear was given these booties by a good friend of mine.
We love them!
WHY?  One word:  SNAPS!

Unlike socks, or even the typical bootie, they actually stay on my active little (big) guy's feet.
They are super easy to put on.

They open up nice and wide....

And, slip right on.

I can even put them on with one hand.
Viola!

I also love that they are double layered and their fabrics are super cute.
I'm thinking of getting a pair of these super cozie booties for winter.

Don't they look so warm and snuggly?

We are really loving these booties!  But, seriously, what's not to love?!

Staying Afloat.....

Thank you for the birthday shout out Heather.  You are so sweet!

I had a great birthday.....one that involved a family reunion, a midnight dash to Mesquite, a bottle of champagne and a bubble bath at 2:00 in the morning, breakfast, a hike and cliff jumping bright and early!  Yes that is how I roll these days.  Jam packed and staying afloat....barely ;)

If you haven't noticed already this is pretty consistently me and Heather's MO :).  If the plate's not full, we are hungry.  A good thing....right??

Well, I am back from my blogging sabbatical and my apologies for being a stranger.  It has been a couple of seriously CRAZY weeks for me down in the UC.

I thought I would end my blog post with my TOP TEN SUMMER MUST DO's.

*I know...I know...summer is almost over.  I thought I would get you started on some ideas for next Summer ;).  I also really really don't want to say goodbye!

MUST DO #1: Get in a Raft

See photo above.  Disclaimer: I would not suggest a sinking one without oar mounts like mine; but aside from all of that, it is fun to get out on a lake if only for a minute.

MUST DO #2: Hiking Date Night

If you are in Utah, Albion Basin would be my top recommendation in July or August.   A bottle of wine is always a welcome addition to a date night....My current favorite: Barefoot Red Moscato.  YUM!

MUST DO #3: Trip to the Ocean

Any ocean would do ;)

MUST DO #4: Go Camping

I know this is hard to do with little kids but trust me it is so worth it!

MUST DO #5-Hit the Zoo

Kids and animals....Need I say more?

MUST DO #6-Play in the rain

Even if you cheat and use an umbrella....

MUST DO #7-Go on a picnic

Can't beat the atmosphere here.

MUST DO #8-Go to a Carni

I am glad it is only a once a year thing :).

MUST DO #9- Watch a Meteor Shower

Sorry no photo for this one....I tried but it was too cloudy!

MUST DO #10-Go outside and play!

Sandstone and water make a perfect playground.

That finishes off my TOP TEN.

Things I didn't get to do this year that I really wish I would have:

1. More Farmers Markets
2. Grow Cherry Tomatoes
3. Paint!  (It has been on my goal list)
4. Go Mountain Biking

What are your Summer Must Do's?  Maybe I can borrow some ideas to add to my next years list ;).

Welcome Fall....I will miss Summer but I sure do love your cooler temps, fresh veggies and AMAZING colors!

Happy Birthday, Jody!

You are such a ROCKSTAR of a friend!
Not to mention an amazing mom......and an amazing person!
Here's to a fantastic year.
